Grassroots Heroes Projects
2008
• New Classroom, Office, and Kitchen built with donated funds
• Security Bars put up in each classroom and the office to provide protection for future donations
• School Desks donated for all students and given to the Mango Grove Community School
• One year of teacher stipends for teachers is donated
• 80 School Packs made, shipped and given out to the children of Grippis Farm
• A Bore Hole drilled and given to the community
• Donated Hasbro dolls given to each girl and a stuffed animal to each boy
• 10 Treadle Sewing Machines donated to the community
• 6 months of sewing instruction given to 20 adults in the community
• Health screening for all school children given by volunteer pediatrician
• Two meals a day provided to correct malnutrition in the students
• 30 Women trained to crochet purses and make bread
• 26 Women attend maid training course
2009
• Farm leased next door to the beneficiary community to house teams & accommodate agricultural projects to benefit the community
• Chicken Project with 1,000 begun - proceeds to allow community to sustain the community school
• 4 new teachers added to staff and supported by donors
2010
• Full time missionary/community development specialist starts work with the community
• Community organizes and registers as an official Cooperative
• New Plot for School acquired and purchased by this new Cooperative
• Architect draws up plans for new school building
• Foreman hired to oversee building project
• One New School Building constructed
• New Borehole drilled and donated to the community
• Small Animal Training Facility built to train community members
• Community members receive training in raising rabbits
• Trained families receive rabbits and feed to start their new businesses in their homes.
• 10 older students successfully transfer to public school and are supported by donors
